About Wayne McKinney

Wayne McKinney is passionate about capturing the beauty and spirit of Florida’s diverse wildlife through the lens of his cameras.
For three decades, Wayne dedicated himself to the Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation, a nonprofit he co-founded with two close friends. One of those friends, Al Latimer, invited Wayne to visit the Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Delray Beach. That first visit sparked a passion that continues today. Since then, Wayne has returned countless times to photograph nesting birds and the many species that call the wetlands home year-round.
If you find yourself in the Delray Beach area between January and May—the peak season for bird activity—be sure to add “Waco” to your itinerary. It’s a destination that nature lovers and photographers alike won’t want to miss!
After retiring from GCJGF in 2026, Wayne founded LEDGN Photography to share the images and experiences from his travels throughout Florida’s diverse natural landscapes. From serene lakes and estuaries to the vast Everglades and scenic coastal waters, his work celebrates the extraordinary wildlife and natural beauty found across the Sunshine State.
Wayne’s vision extends beyond showcasing his own work. He hopes to grow LEDGN Photography into a community where fellow hobbyists and amateur photographers can share their images, stories, and appreciation for Florida’s unique natural heritage.

Wayne was recognized by the Miami Dolphins Football Club on October 12, 2025, as a South Florida Legend for his dedication to junior golf in the area.
